After the war, he moved to Crossland Road, Hathersage, when he was a railway signalman at the Hathersage signal box. He later moved to Grindleford, until he died.

Married Georgina (b1875 Chelsea), daughter of Thomas Norton Longman, Nether Hall, Hathersage, (Of the ‘Longman Publishing’ family). The family was at Nether Hall from at least 1891 until 1909. Her mother was President of Hathersage Mothers Union.
